SLAYTON — Getting 19 players into the game Tuesday afternoon, the depth-filled and experienced Murray County Central Rebels put the finishing touches on the 2012 Red Rock Conference high school baseball championship with a clean 8-0 victory over the Southwestern United Wildcats.

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Scoring three runs in both the second and fourth innings Tuesday afternoon, the Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Wolverines claimed an 8-4 victory over the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Falcons in a Red Rock Conference high school baseball game.

LUVERNE — Luverne’s boys’ tennis squad locked up the Southwest Conference championship Tuesday with a 7-0 win over MACCRAY.

EDGERTON — Scoring six runs in the fifth inning Tuesday afternoon, the Edgerton/Southwest Christian Flying Dutchmen clinched the 2012 Red Rock Conference high school softball championship with a 10-2 victory over the Adrian Area Dragons.

JACKSON — Coming into Monday’s Southwest Conference baseball game, the Worthington Trojans were looking up at Jackson County Central in the standings. But after a wild 15-11 Trojan victory over the Huskies, everything changed.

LUVERNE — Luverne girls’ and boys’ golf squads defeated Adrian Monday, as the Cardinal boys won 156-194 and the Cardinal girls defeated the Dragons 197-234.
WORTHINGTON CUBS: Munkel Ks 16, Cubs win opener 8-2
WORTHINGTON — Adam Munkel was electric on the mound for the Worthington Cubs Sunday night in the return to First Nite League for the local nine. The rookie right-hander displayed superb command of all of his pitches and struck out 16 Lakefield Horned Frog batters over seven strong innings to lead the Cubs to an 8-2 season-opening win.
