In its third-year of consolidation, the Heron Lake-Okabena school district solified its community spirit by winning the Class A girls’ basketball championship in 1981. Transportation director Warren Hotzler drove the team bus back home after the Scarlet Knights won a trio of games at Bloomington’s Met Sports Center.
