Obituary: Mary Ellen Frances Kellen

Mary Ellen Frances Kellen, age 66, of Adrian, died Friday, January 9, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident north of Adrian.

Mary Ellen Frances Kellen, age 66, of Adrian, died Friday, January 9, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident north of Adrian. She was born November 5, 1942, in Tyler, MN, to Francis and Mary (Culhane) Seivert. She graduated from Elkton High School in 1960; and attended Business College in Sioux Falls, SD.

Mary Ellen married Joseph Kellen on August 16, 1969, in Elkton, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Adrian. Mary Ellen was employed at various places including SDSU, USDA, Bank First & currently was employed at Wells Fargo Bank in Sioux Falls, SD.

She was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church, the WCCW, the Catholic Daughters, she volunteered with the American Red Cross, & served on the Adrian City Council, the Adrian Park Board and Adrian Hospital Board. Mary Ellen enjoyed making cakes for people, attending basketball games, music, cantering at church, spoiling her grandchildren and a good cup of coffee.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Joseph Kellen, Adrian; four children and their spouses, Steven Kellen, Adrian; Karen & James Kasper, Woodbury; Susan & John Beaman, Sioux Falls, SD; and Mark Kellen, Rochester; two grandchildren, Seth Beaman & Olivia Kellen; and three brothers, Francis Seivert, Elkton, SD; Mike (Jean) Seivert, Alcester, SD; and Dick Seivert, LeMars, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm Thursday, with a rosary service at 4:30 pm and parish prayers at 7:00 pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Visitation also from 9:30 am to 10:15 am Friday at the funeral home. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Fr. Timothy Hall & Fr. Gerald Kosse. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
