Obituary: Helen DeBoer

Helen DeBoer, age 90, of Luverne, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the Sanford Luverne Hospital.

Sanford Luverne Hospital.

She was born June 25, 1918 in rural Kanaranzi to parents, Lambert and Trientje (Bottinga) Hisken. She attended rural school at District #6 in Rock County.

Helen married William DeBoer on December 27, 1946 at the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne.

After their marriage the couple farmed Northwest of Luverne. In 1970 they moved to Luverne and Helen cleaned homes in Luverne.

She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne. She was also a charter member of the church and very active in the ladies aide. Helen enjoyed bowling, cooking and baking. Helen is survived by two daughters, Linda (LeRoy) Olivier, Luverne; and Laura (Allen) Kuehl, Brandon, SD; four grandchildren, Jared(Lisa) Olivier, Brandon, SD, Kim (Arlyn) Gehrke, Beaver Creek, MN, Joshua Kuehl, Aurora, CO, Mathew Kuehl, Burnseveille, MN, four great-grandchildren and special friends Rev. Bert and Clara DenHerder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William on June 3, 2003, two brothers, Jerry Hisken, Hildebrand Hisken and two sisters, Dena Aanenson and Leona Thode. Visitation will be Monday, from 5 to 8 PM at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Roger Sparks. Burial will be in the Luverne Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
