Amelia “Emily” Johanna Olga Nelson, 90, of Brewster, died on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN Born August 17, 1918, in Worthington, she was the daughter of Tilman and Olga (Scharping) Kaufman. Emily married Charles H. Nelson on September 14, 1938, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, MN. He died on August 27, 1990.

Born August 17, 1918, in Worthington, she was the daughter of Tilman and Olga (Scharping) Kaufman. Emily married Charles H. Nelson on September 14, 1938, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, MN. He died on August 27, 1990.
At the age of 5, she moved with her parents to their farm near Brewster. She was baptized at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. Emily graduated from Brewster High School as Valedictorian in 1935.
After their marriage, they moved to a farm 4 miles from her home place where she lived until September of 1999 when she moved into her home in Brewster. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, Ladies Aide, and the Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are two sons, Gaylord Nelson of Worthington, MN, and Virgil (Bonnie) Nelson of Alexandria, MN; two daughters, Carol (DuWayne) Oberloh of Brewster, MN, and Phyllis (Craig) Hildebrand of Sachse, TX; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, William Kaufman, and one great grandson, Matthew Nissen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, MN, with Rev. David McDonald officiating. Casket bearers will be Emily’s grandchildren, Dean and Dana Oberloh, Jeff and Chris Nelson, Gregg and Jon Nelson, Nick and Ben Hildebrand, Holly Loosbrock, Anita Leach, Lisa Stuber, Tammy Diaz, and Paula Nissen. Burial will be in the Hersey Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
