Obituary: Frances Margaret Loosbrock

Frances Margaret Loosbrock, age 78, of St. Kilian, died Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Sanford Adrian Care Center in Adrian, MN. She was born April 29, 1931 to parents Harm and Veronica (McTague) Klooster in Adrian, MN. She attended school at St. Adrian Catholic School and graduated in 1948. After her schooling she worked for one year at Federated Mutual Insurance Company in Owatonna, MN. Fran attended the Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, SD; McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD; and Creighton University in Omaha, NE; and received her three year Registered Nursing Degree in 1953.

Fran married Ivo John Loosbrock on January 7, 1954 in Heron Lake. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Bernards Hospital in Oxnard, California and also at the California State Hospital. In 1955, they began farming south of St. Kilian. Fran worked at the Worthington Clinic starting in 1955 and in 1960 worked at the Arnold Memorial Hospital in Adrian and also at the Worthington Regional Hospital for nine years. She worked at the Campbell’s Soup Company in the 1970’s for eight years and the County Head Start Program as a Health and Handicap Coordinator for nine years until her retirement. After her retirement she co-managed with her husband, Ivo, Loos-Change Car Wash Inc. in Adrian.

She was a member of the St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian and was an active member in the Catholic Daughters, the CCW, CCD instructor, and 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting and being with her grandchildren.

Fran is survived by her five children, Doug (Laura) Loosbrock, Lismore; Brad Loosbrock, Champlin; John (Louise) Loosbrock, Excelsior; Eric (Brenda) Loosbrock, Chaska; and Kelly (Holly) Loosbrock, Chaska; fourteen grandchildren, Josh, Dan (Jessica), Jeremy (Gina), Carmell (Brad), Bryn, Ian, Aletha, (Mark) Cory (Rachel), Brittany, Jordan, Max, Ethan, Isaac & Hope; four great grandchildren, Thomas, Kira, Ava & Mia; sister, Loretta Klooster, San Francisco, CA; and a brother, Jim (Mary) Klooster, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivo Loosbrock on June 24, 2009, son, Tom, in 1999; great granddaughter, Isabella Korchinski; two sisters, Rose Ann Parodi and Sister Ellen Klooster.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 pm at the St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian with a rosary at 5 pm followed by a parish prayer service at 7 pm. Visitation will also be Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

The Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 10:30 am at the St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian with Father Larry Brixius officiating. Burial will be at the St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
