Obituary: Mary Clauson
Mary Clauson passed away at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the age of 83.
Mary Clauson, the daughter of James and Mae Brown Wheeler, was born on July 12, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN. She grew up in Indianapolis and attended Albert Walsman #3 Elementary School and graduated from Warren Central High School in 1944. Mary was united in marriage to Richard Clauson on July 2, 1948 in Indianapolis. After their marriage they lived in Indianapolis, IN before moving to Hadley, MN. She worked in the office for the U.S. Government and later worked from her home as a Home Interiors representative. After they retired, Richard and Mary moved to Alexandria, MN. Mary passed away at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the age of 83. She was a member of the Hadley Lutheran Church. She also belonged to Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary and a Hospice Volunteer. Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting and playing cards. She loved spending time with and watching her grandchildren. She was an avid baker, loved shopping for bargains and taking care of others. She loved her lake home in Park Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Clauson; three children and their spouses, Allan (Pamela) Clauson of Slayton, MN, Valerie (Al) Fincher of Sioux Falls, SD and Barbara Klepper of Alexandria, MN; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Martindale, and two brothers, William and James Curtis.
Hadley Lutheran Church, Hadley, MN at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 9, 2009 with the Rev. Kerry Boese officiating. The organist is Dianne Johnson and the flutist Juli Baecker. The pallbearers are Jason Gordon, Nick Hanson, Mike Clauson, Cole Bredlow, Derrick Fincher and Russell Bonnstetter. Interment will be at Highland Home Cemetery, Hadley, MN.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Sign guestbook online at www.totzkefuneralhome.com.
