Obituary: Amanda Falknor

Amanda R. Falknor, age 86, died on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield.

Amanda R. Falknor, age 86, died on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield with Pastor Gordon Pennertz officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery at 2:30 PM at assembly area #6.

Amanda Rena Falknor was born on September 2, 1923 in Larkin Township, Nobles County, Minnesota the daughter of Wilbur and Hattie (Brass) Ebeling. She grew up and received her education in Worthington. She graduated from Worthington High School and continued her education at Mankato State University. Amanda was united in marriage to William Falknor on, June 22, 1944 in New Bern, North Carolina. They lived in North Carolina while William was serving in the United States Marine Corp. They moved back to the Worthington area where she taught country school near Worthington and elementary school in Worthington. In 1970, they moved to Litchfield and she opened a licensed daycare. Amanda was very supportive of her husband and family. Her faith was extremely important to her and she was active in church and read the bible often. She loved to read, crochet, travel, watch sports and work on challenging crossword puzzles.

Amanda is survived by her children; Lonna Falknor of Bloomington, Randy (and Joletta) Falknor of Sartell, Ron Falknor of Burnsville, and Bob Falknor of Waite Park, grandchildren; Bill Mitchell, Christina (and Jason) Kadelbach, Chuck (and Nikki) Mitchell, Will Falknor, Katrine Falknor, Lisa (and Brandon) Goranson, Dan Falknor, and Joe Falknor, great grandchildren; Kaleb, Kali and Kobe Kadelbach, sister; Wilma Seetin of Huntley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters and four brothers.
