I didn't know Mr. Rickbeil well but I applied for a job at the store in 1965. Mr. Rickbeil told me he didn't have an opening at the time but he would keep my application. Meanwhile I was drafted when an opening came up. My dad told Mr. Rickbeil that I was in the Army and Mr. Rickbeil sent me a nice letter saying that when I got out he would have a job for me. I never did go to work at his store but I still have fond memories of his offer.

Hardy was one of the first bussinessmen I met when we moved to Worthington in 1963. He was a kind and generous man, respectful of all and strived to help others even after the ripe old age of 100. What a man for all to look up to and emulate. Dick, Judy and family. May God bless you all. Jim Wychor, Shoreview,MN

Dick and Judy -- So very sorry to learn of Mr. Rickbeil's passing. I can recall shopping with my mom in your stores when I was a little girl, & your dad was always so engaging & helpful. Many decades later, when your parents & my mom were both at the Meadows, he was the same cheerful & gracious person. Worthington has lost a landmark. Our thoughts will be with you.
