Mildred Jean Raley, age 84, of Rushmore, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington.
Mildred Jean Raley, age 84, of Rushmore, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born February 10, 1926, in Larkin Township, rural Nobles County, to Chris and Jenny (Fischer) Hieronimus. She attended country school in District #84.
Mildred married Robert Raley on October 2, 1944, at her parents home in Larkin Township. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Rushmore area. They also owned and operated the gas station in Rushmore for more then six years. In 1979, they retired and moved to Rushmore.
She was a homemaker and a former member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Rushmore. Mildred was a current member of the American Reformed Church in Worthington; the Hope Circle; and the Rushmore Senior Citizens. She enjoyed baking, sewing, bowling, golfing, sports, playing cards & bingo.
Mildred is survived by her six children, David (Sandra) Raley, Golden Valley; Lyle (Rita) Raley, Prior Lake; Robert Jr. (Lanna) Raley, Rockford, IL; Gloria (Ron) Henrichs, Prior Lake; Becky (Ed) Suedkamp, San Diego, CA; and Kevin (Wendy) Raley, Burnsville; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; four sisters, Pearl Smith, Worthington; Arlene Joens, Wilmont; Marcella (Bill) Weiner, Villard; and Dorothy (Melvin) Rust, Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Ed Raley, Worthington; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Boots, Rushmore; and Cedella Raley, Sioux Falls, SD; and two aunts, Mary Elsing, Worthington; and Carrie Hieronimus, Adrian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Sr., on February 19, 1994; two sisters, Alberta Haabala; and Ethel Lupkes; and a special friend, Jack Cooper.
A time of fellowship will be from 5-8 pm Sunday, October 17, 2010, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A memorial service will be 10 am Monday, October 18, 2010 at the American Reformed Church, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. Irwin Van Leeuwen. Burial of cremains will be 12:30 PM Monday, October 18, 2010, at the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
