Obituary: Emory Anderson

Emory LeRoy Anderson, 92, was born on March 21, 1919 in Worthington, MN, the son of Roy and Esther Anderson.

He grew up on a farm with his family near Indian Lake and attended school in Round Lake, where he graduated high school in 1937.

Following two years in the Merchant Marines, he returned and married Esther Levitan on December 15, 1947.

They lived happily in Round Lake for over sixty years.

Emory worked for Standard Oil for two years and then joined the sales team at Western Petroleum - Minneapolis.

Emory loved selling gas and oil in the tri-state area, Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa.

His personality and love for people allowed him to win many sales awards.

Emory loved to work! He was passionate about people.

Emory's outgoing personality paved the way to reach many people along his journey.

He enjoyed spreading the word of God by giving numerous copies of THE DAILY BREAD- a daily devotional.

Emory had a great sense of humor and would wear colorful, musical ties and socks to brighten everyone's day. Emory loved to call friends and family on their birthdays!

One of the things Emory always looked forward to was the annual family vacation to Lake Okoboji.

His grandparents were the original founders of The Swedish Baptist church which is now known as Indian Lake Baptist Church.

Emory loved the Lord with all his heart.

Emory died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN.

Emory was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Esther, his brothers, William, Paul, and Clifford and sister, Nell.

He leaves behind his wife, Esther and four children, Stephen (Sharon) in Waconia, MN, Ryan (Sharon) in San Ramon, CA, Michael (Terri) in Minneapolis, MN, and Lexy Capp in Las Vegas, NV.

Emory had 9 grandchildren plus 3 step grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A celebration service of his life will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at the Indian Lake Baptist Church near Worthington, MN, with Pastor Doug Roth officiating and Emory’s son, Pastor Steve Anderson assisting. Burial will be in the Indian Lake Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
