Joan B. Erickson, 82, was born on November 1, 1929, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Warner and Ruby (Ness) Larson. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1947 and attended Jr. College in Worthington. Joan worked at J.C. Penney Co. as a credit clerk and also at Sears in Worthington for over 20 years. Joan married Donald Erickson on October 5, 1951, in Worthington. They lived on the Erickson family farm near St. James, MN, before moving to Worthington in 1962. She was a an active member of the First Lutheran Church, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was on the projects committee. Joan died on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN.
Joan is survived by two sons, David (Terry) Erickson of Missoula, MT, and Daniel (Cynthia) Erickson of Brooklyn Park, MN; one daughter, Barbara (Michael) Van Langen of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren, Keith, Kristin, and Ryan Erickson, Matthew Van Langen, and Kayla, Heather, Mara, and Nathan Erickson, and two great grandchildren, Liam and Ridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, twin sister, Jean Beck, and brother-in-law, Harold Beck.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Richard Ricker officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials.
