Obituary: Georga Saxon

Georga Bell Saxon age 100 was born March 22, 1911 in Harris, IA to George and Martha (Hoffman) Bauer.

Georga Bell Saxon age 100 was born March 22, 1911 in Harris, IA to George and Martha (Hoffman) Bauer. They lived in several towns in NW Iowa and she graduated from high school in Sibley, IA.

Georga attended Mankato Norman School and got a life time teaching certificate. She taught at Ocheyedan, IA; Indian Lake, MN District 23; Armstrong, IA; and Round Lake, MN. She was an active member of Indian Lake Baptist Church for many years, serving as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, women’s circle and Girls Missionary Guild. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Extension project group.

She married Orville Saxon on August 16, 1938 at her parents’ home in Worthington, MN. She and Orville enjoyed wintering in AZ for many years where they made good friends from all over the world.

Georga is survived by two daughters; Barbara Rehborg of Greeley, CO and Mary (Lynn) Langseth of Worthington, MN; five grandchildren; Steven (Janine) Spessard of Worthington; David Spessard of Mankato; and Eric (Lori) Spessard of Navarre, FL; Elizabeth (Tracey) Cowling of Glenwood Springs, CO and Jonathan Rehborg of Greeley, CO. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and two son-in-laws.

Funeral services will on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the Indian Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Larson officiating. Grandchildren will serve as casket bearers. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 5-7 pm at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.

Benson Funeral Home is coordinating the arrangements.
