Obituary: Krista Serrao

Memorial service for Krista Serrao, 37, of Humboldt will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. She passed away Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 near Alexandria, SD as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Memorial service for Krista Serrao, 37, of Humboldt will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. She passed away Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 near Alexandria, SD as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Krista Lynn Smith was born on April 23rd, 1974 to Bill and the late Deanna Smith in Worthington, MN. She lived her childhood in Worthington where she attended school and worked at Wendy’s and Food-n-Fuel. In 1994, she married Joseph Serrao and they had two children, Ryan and Lizzy. They later divorced. In 1999, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD and worked at Wells Fargo. While working there, she was introduced to her long time friend and fiancé, Brian Boll. She later moved to Hartford, SD and worked for Farner Bocken. A few years later, she moved to Humboldt, SD and owned Video Plus. In June of 2011, Krista and Brian purchased Countryside Gas n’ Grill in Platte.

Krista enjoyed spending time with family, friends and the family dog “Bailey”. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and shopping. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face.

Those left to cherish her memories are: her children, Ryan and Lizzy of Humboldt; fiancé, Brian Boll of Humboldt; father, Bill (Pat) Smith and of Rushmore, MN; brother, Jim (Lisa) Smith of Sheldon, IA; step-sister, Janelle (Todd) Boots of Tea, SD; step-brothers, Shane (Julie) Timmerman of Worthington, MN, Chris Timmerman of Tea, SD and Mike (Leah) Timmerman of Lakefield, MN; niece and nephew, Brittany and Trevor Smith; and many more nieces, nephews, and family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Deanna, and infant brother, Brian.
