Betty Gano, 77, of Worthington, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Jackson Good Samaritan Center.
Betty Gano, 77, of Worthington, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Jackson Good Samaritan Center. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Jackson, with Chaplain Dan Hormig officiating. Burial will be in the Lakefield City Cemetery.
Visitation with be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Osterberg Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Betty May Gano was born on May 29, 1934, in Lakefield, Minnesota, the daughter of Ervin and Selma (Malchow) Ahrens. She attended school in Lakefield, MN. After her schooling, she was united in marriage to Raymond Bunderle on April 7, 1951, at Camp Rucker, Alabama. To that marriage was born 4 children, Linda Rae, Daniel, Mitchell and Dedra. After marriage, they lived in Jackson, MN, then to Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving back to Jackson in 1965. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Jackson Hospital and a cook at the Riverside Elementary School while in Jackson. The marriage ended in 1974. On March 7, 1975, she was united in marriage to Jim Gano. They lived in Worthington, MN, moved to Broomfield, Colorado, before moving back to Worthington, MN. She had worked at Two-Tag Pharmaceutical while in Broomfield, and then at K-Mart while in Worthington. She then became a resident of the Jackson Good Samaritan Center on August 17, 2010, where she passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 8 days.
Betty was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Then, later became a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson. Later in life, she had been attending Solid Rock Assembly of God in Worthington. She had been known for her very strong faith in The Lord. She loved The Lord and loved to read the Bible. She had been a member of Al-Anon. She had an affinity for Angels and butterflies. Betty and Jim enjoyed dancing at the VFW in Worthington. She liked to go shopping until all hours of the night. The holidays were very special to her as they were spent with family. She loved to play board games with her grandsons; “Out of Control” was a favorite. Family vacations were spent camping and sitting around a bonfire. She loved to sew and had a great sense of humor. She always had hugs and kisses for everyone. Family and friends were important to her and she was always there for them.
Betty is survived by her husband, Jim Gano of Worthington; 2 daughters, Linda Rae (Robert) Bennett of Scottsdale, AZ, and Dedra (Herman) Duin of Rushmore, MN; 2 sons, Daniel (Kat) Bunderle of Unionville, IN and Mitchell Bunderle of Albuquerque, NM; 5 grandchildren, Dana, Paul, Jake, Ben, and Haley; and 3 great-grandchildren, Mason, Jackson, and Evelyn. She is also survived by 5 brothers, Eugene Ahrens of Florida, Merle (Nancy) Ahrens of Arizona, Jerald (Lois) Ahrens of Arizona, OJ Ahrens of Colorado, and Ervin Ahrens of New Mexico; and a sister, Bonnie Liebl of Lakefield.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Selma Ahrens; a brother, Rodney Ahrens; and a grandson, Shawn Cox.
