Obituary: Steven Ossefoort

Steven Theodore Ossefoort, age 37, died at his home in Worthington, MN, on Friday, May 18, 2012. He was the son of Gerald and DeAnn Ossefoort of Fulda, MN, the beloved husband of Wendy (McCuen) Ossefoort and adored father of three children.

Steven Theodore Ossefoort, age 37, died at his home in Worthington, MN, on Friday, May 18, 2012. He was the son of Gerald and DeAnn Ossefoort of Fulda, MN, the beloved husband of Wendy (McCuen) Ossefoort and adored father of three children.

Steve graduated from Fulda High School and Minnesota West Technical College. Steve married Wendy McCuen on March 11, 2000, in Worthington. He worked as a journeyman carpenter in and around Mankato for many years before moving to Worthington, MN to join his father-in-law and brother-in-law in their welding business. Steve enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. He was a proud member of a dart league, having won Top League Player multiple times. Steve’s greatest love was sitting around a campfire with his kids and many friends.

Steve is survived by his wife, Wendy of Worthington; two children, Daryan (9) and Theodore (6); his parents, Gerald and DeAnn Ossefoort of Fulda, MN; two brothers, Scott Ossefoort and friend, Bonnie Brady of Sioux Falls, SD and Seth Ossefoort and friend, Jessica Koster of Fulda; grandfather, Donald Dykema of Fulda; grandmother, Ethel Ossefoort of Luverne, MN; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Leanne McCuen of Worthington; brother-in-law, Bryan and Holly McCuen of Worthington; sister-in-law, Jennifer and Mark Evers of Comfrey, MN; 3 nieces and 1 nephew, and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Addyson; grandfather, Louis Ossefoort and grandmother, Matilda Dykema.

Steve touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Irwin Van Leeuwen officiating. Casket bearers will be Mike Sheldon, Denny Schmitz, Tony Voss, Ross Teerink, Dave McInnis, and Chris Hadfield. Burial will be in the Hersey Cemetery near Brewster, MN.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are with Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
