Shirley June Meyeraan, age 87, was born on July 16, 1924 in Council Bluffs, IA, the daughter of Willard and Helen (Johnson) Bixby.
Shirley June Meyeraan, age 87, was born on July 16, 1924 in Council Bluffs, IA, the daughter of Willard and Helen (Johnson) Bixby. She attended school in Worthington, MN. Shirley married Harm W. Meyeraan Sr. on August 11, 1942 in Worthington. She worked at Worthmore Creamery, then as a cook for Holiday Inn and Gobbler Café and most recently at South Shore Care Center until her retirement in 1987. Shirley was a member of the Worthington Christian Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, crafting and playing cards and Bingo with her friends at Sunshine Apartments. Shirley died on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington.
Shirley is survived by her children, Robert (Orene) Meyeraan of Rushmore, MN, Ronald Meyeraan of Worthington, MN, Linda (Gary Sr.) Hieronimus of Ellsworth, MN, Helen (Dean) Mekosch of Jackson, MN; Darrel (Norma) Meyeraan of Fulda, MN, Roxanne Popillion of Hurst, TX, Sylvia Larson of Worthington, MN and Todd (Eileen) Meyeraan of Ellsworth, MN; 32 granchildren; 50 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Harm Jr.; daughter, Georgia Smith; granddaughter, Shirley Jo; great granddaughter; brother, Robert Bixby and son-in-law, Peter Popillion.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Worthington Christian Church, with Pastor Ron Ahlgren officiating. Casket bearers will be Shane Hieronimus, Gary Hieronimus Jr., Jason Mekosch, Jesse Larson, Brett Meyeraan, Thomas Meyeraan, Ronnie Meyeraan Jr. and Dustin Popillion. Honorary bearers will be Bruce Meyeraan, Justin Mekosch, Chad Mekosch, Travis Mekosch, Joshua Meyeraan, Trent Meyeraan, Tyson Meyeraan, Todd Meyeraan Jr. and Derrik Larson. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
