Robert S. Pederson, 80, was born on August 14, 1931, in Lakefield, MN. He was the son of Clint and Ellen Pederson.
Robert S. Pederson, 80, was born on August 14, 1931, in Lakefield, MN. He was the son of Clint and Ellen Pederson. He moved to Worthington in 1944. Robert was married to Marlus Tripp at Westminster Presbyterian Church and continued to worship there until his death. Together they had three children, Chuck, Mike and Linda. Bob served in the Air Force, followed by service as a local policeman. Bob served as a Scout associate for 50 years and served as liaison between Scouts and Kiwanis. The first pancake supper in Worthington was Pederson's idea. The troop was fresh from a 1965 rating as one of the three best units in the nation. Bob was surprised to receive the Nobles County Father of the Year Award. He brought the Imagination Library program to the preschool children in Worthington. Bob married Phyllis Hawke Endriss on September 13, 1996. Bob's hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, planting trees, as well as other outdoor preservation of nature. He loved to travel as well as spend time at his home in Arizona. Bob died on Monday, June 18, 2012, at his acreage near Worthington.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife Marlus, daughter Linda, and only brother Donald, as well as parents and grandparents.
Bob is survived by his sons and their families, Mike and Deb Pederson, Watertown, SD, and Chuck Pederson, Little Falls, MN, as well as Scott Endriss, Willmar, MN, Terry and Michelle Vajgrt, Luverne, MN, and Jay and Tammy Chelf, Davenport, IA.
Together they have 16 grandchildren, the Pederson's: Matt, Casie, Brett, Adam, Courtney, Hunter, Tyler, and Marti; McKenzie and Morgan Endriss; John, Megan, and Carly Chelf, and Joey, Jonny and Tommy Vajgrt. Bob was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Mason and Caydon Nadolney, Azalea Endriss-Patino, Claire Zwach, and Saga Streets.
Graveside services, with military rites, will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., at the Worthington Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 2:30 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Jim Kraph officiating. Personal reflections will be delivered by Terry Vajgrt, and harp music by Kathy Fransen. Light refreshments and sharing time will follow.
