Obituary: Beryl Larson

Beryl “Bertha” Larson, 93, of Heron Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake. Funeral Services for Bertha was held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10 AM

Beryl “Bertha” Larson, 93, of Heron Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake. Funeral Services for Bertha was held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10 AM at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Heron Lake with Pastor Mark Yakel- Juleen officiating. Burial took place at Lakeside Cemetery, Heron Lake, Minnesota.

Beryl Bertha (Fox) Larson was born on August 19, 1918 in Heron Lake, Minnesota to Milton and Edith (Kilgore) Fox. She attended Heron Lake High School and graduated in 1937. Bertha married Sidney Larson in 1940. Together they farmed for thirty years before moving into Heron Lake in 1970. Sidney passed away in May 1971. Bertha lived in her home in Heron Lake for the next 38 years and for many of those years raised a large garden. Bertha loved children and enjoyed babysitting and working at the Heron Lake Daycare. She also enjoyed helping to deliver meals to homebound neighbors. Bertha was known to be very helpful with anything that needed to be done. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Heron Lake. Bertha was very active in the church, making many quilts, and helping on the funeral committee.

Bertha moved into Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake in March 2009. She passed away at Lakeview on July 1, 2012 at the age of 93 years, ten months, and twelve days.

Bertha is survived by her daughters Edith Berreau of Brewster and Suzanne Jacobson of Lakefield, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Gladys “Tim” Schumacher of Heron Lake.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sidney, two sons-in-law, Francis Berreau and Greg Jacobson, three sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral arrangements are with the Osterberg-Hansen Funeral Home of Heron Lake.
