Obituary: Shirley Becker

Shirley Carol Becker, age 78, was born on July 8, 1934, in Wilmont, MN, the daughter of George and Caroline (Krell) Probst.

Shirley Carol Becker, age 78, was born on July 8, 1934, in Wilmont, MN, the daughter of George and Caroline (Krell) Probst. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Wilmont. Shirley married Wendell Becker on April 16, 1966 in Worthington, MN. Shirley worked as a cook and waitress at many local eating establishments including the Gateway, Thompson Coffee Shop, Thunderbird Steakhouse, Chicken Coop and Meyers Pool Hall. She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, Minnesota Twins baseball and reading. Shirley died on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Shirley is survived by her children, Cindy Becker of Worthington, MN, Kevin (Patti) Becker of Jordan, MN, and Ted Becker of Tea, SD; grandchildren, Vladik and Joey Becker of Jordan, MN; sisters, Marie Schissel of Albertville, MN and Colleen Koehne of Worthington, MN; brother, Stan (Florence) Probst of Rochester, MN and brother-in-law, James Galagan of Worthington, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; brothers, Al, Lawrence and Arnold Probst, and sisters, Evelyn Galagan and Kathlyn (Chet) Husman.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 with a Eagles Services at 5 pm and Prayer Service at 7 pm at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
