Obituary: Leona Luinenburg

Leona Luinenburg, the daughter of Herman and Grace (Te Brake) Dykstra, was born on April 17, 1926, in Sibley, IA.

Leona Luinenburg, the daughter of Herman and Grace (Te Brake) Dykstra, was born on April 17, 1926, in Sibley, IA. She grew up in the Worthington area. Leona was united in marriage to John Luinenburg on August 6, 1945, on the Dykstra farm in rural Worthington. Together they farmed many years in the Worthington area. They enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. She enjoyed listening to Kitchen Klatter, crocheting baby blankets for great grandchildren, flower gardening and helping others. Leona died on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington, MN.

Leona is survived by her husband, John of Worthington, MN; children, Barb (Vern) Uit De Flesch of Fulda, MN, Jan (Duane) Bajema of Sioux Center, IA, John Rodney (Pat) Luinenburg of Reading, MN and Beth (Mark) Raveling of Spicer, MN; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Minnie DenBoer; brother-in-law, Marvin Luinenburg and sisters-in-law, Clara Hofstee, Mary (Gib) Obermoller and Grace Dykema. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Dykstra and sister, Catherine Gravenhof.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Irwin VanLeeuwen officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.

Memorials are preferred to the Worthington Christian School.

I am sorry for the loss of an old, old friend. I thought Leona was pretty neat and I guess we went out several times. John and I did our army basic training near Peoria, Ill. My sympathy to all of, the members of the family, Ray Voss, 4112 Segovia Dr. Pasco, Wa 99301
