Obituary: Mitchell Benson

Mitchell James Benson was born on January 22, 1992 to Phillip and Amy (Oberloh) Benson in Mankato, Minnesota.

Mitchell James Benson was born on January 22, 1992 to Phillip and Amy (Oberloh) Benson in Mankato, Minnesota. Mitch attended school in Worthington graduating in 2010 after which he attended Mankato State University. He recently enrolled in the United States Marine Corps to proudly serve his country. “Family first” was a long-standing motto from Mitchell. During high school, athletics was his life, football, hockey, and tennis. Coaches and players quickly adapted to the name of “Benny” in which he is still called today. Mitchell enjoyed working for several summer seasons for the Worthington Park Department. Mitchell died on Friday, August 3, 2012 in Worthington.

Mitchell is survived by his parents, sisters Alyssa and Sarah and brother Andrew; His daughter Aubrey; Grandparents, Gary and Darlene Oberloh, Cindy and Byron Swart, Robert and Jane Benson; Uncles and aunts include, Jeff (Nancy) Oberloh, Scott (Mary) Oberloh, Donna (Robert) Tims, Scott (Lori) Benson, Matt Benson with special friend Lisa and Ryan Benson. He is also survived by cousins Elizabeth (Dave) Vander Grift, Matthew Tims, Anna Tims, Rebecca Tims, Andrea Oberloh, Josh Oberloh, Corinne Oberloh, Jacob Oberloh, Alex Benson, Zachary Benson; Great grandparents Lloyd (Ruth) Roth. He is preceded in death by great grandparents Fred (Ann) Oberloh, Harold (Lorna) Benson and Erwin (Clara) Kropp.

Mitchell’s funeral will be on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Worthington Christian Church in Worthington. Burial will be at the Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
