Obituary: Lucille Krusemark

Lucille Margaret Krusemark, 100, of Fremont, NE, previously of Worthington, MN died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, in Fremont, NE.

Born February 21, 1912, in Lincoln Township, Eau Claire, Wis., she was the daughter of Walter and Augusta (Frase) Mehls. She married Alvin Krusemark June 10, 1941.

She graduated from high school in Flaxville, Mont., in May 1929. She graduated from Worthington Normal Training School in 1931. She taught K-8 at country schools for 10 years. After her husband was drafted in WWII, she worked as a dental assistant for a year then went to St. Louis, MO and worked in a defense plant building torpedoes while he was stationed in Jefferson Barracks and served overseas.

She was a longtime member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher, lay delegate, President and Secretary of United Methodist Women. She also worked with youth and children’s organizations. She was a charter member of Mobile Meals, Hospital Auxiliary, Mother’s Club, and Twentieth Century Club. After her husband’s retirement, they spent 14 winters in Mesa, AZ.

Lucille is survived by daughters Kay (John) Schuller of Naperville, IL, and Janice (Dan) Wolfe of Fremont, NE; grandchildren, Stephanie Schuller and fiancé Steven Wojdyla, Sara (Jimmy) Marrello, Sydney (Tim) Jones and Jennifer (Aaron) Bush, Leah (Eric) Bond, Wende (Mike) Settles, Drew (Kristi) Wolfe, twelve great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Ruth Krusemark of Blue Earth, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, three sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with the Rev. Gordon J. Orde officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
