Obituary: Kenneth Stanton
Kenneth Franklin Stanton, age 95, was born on August 11, 1917, in Heron Lake, MN, the son of Frank and Bessie Stanton.
Kenneth Franklin Stanton, age 95, was born on August 11, 1917, in Heron Lake, MN, the son of Frank and Bessie Stanton. He grew up in the Worthington area where he attended country school through the 8th grade. He worked for area farmers until entering the service in April of 1942. Ken served 3½ years in the Army during World War II.
Ken and Audrey (Ommen) were married on April 2, 1948. They made their home east of Worthington where they began farming and raised their family. In 1992, they retired and moved to Worthington, MN.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church for 63 years. He served on both the church finance and Round Lake Elevator boards. Ken enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He never gave up his love for farming, returning to lend a hand when needed. Ken died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.
Ken is survived by his wife, Audrey Stanton of Worthington, MN; four children, Linda Lucks of Worthington, MN, and her son, Jeremy (Joy) Rasche - children: Jack and Ava; Sandra (Bill) Cuperus of Reading, MN, and their children and families, Neil (Rhonda) Cuperus - children: Shandra and Taylon; Sarah (Travis) Grevengoed - children: Kirsten, Keagan and Kwyn; Jacob (Jill) Cuperus - children: Jozie and Lane; Keith (Brenda) Stanton of Round Lake, MN, their children, Olivia, Lauren and Hope; Konnie Beck of Lake Park, IA and her children and families, Rachel (Nate) Kuchta - children: Ellie and Jaedon; and Jennifer Beck. Ken is also survived by one sister, Harriet Winter of Worthington, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bessie Stanton and one brother, Doyle.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Tom Braun officiating. A private family burial, with military rites, will be prior to the service in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012, at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
