Obituary: Thomas Thill

Thomas John Thill, age 85, of Worthington, died Monday, September 3, 2012, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington.

Thomas John Thill, age 85, of Worthington, died Monday, September 3, 2012, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. He was born November 15, 1926, on a farm near Woodstock and he was the son of Anton and Tillie (Hill) Thill. When he was a young boy he grew up in Wilmont until his family moved to Worthington.

Tom was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Thurston on June 27, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington. He worked at Campbell Soup Company until his retirement. After retirement he enjoyed helping out at BTU Heating & Cooling. In the winter they would go to Donna, Texas, and enjoyed many good times with their friends down there. He loved trucking and loved to tell many stories about the places he went. In later years he enjoyed working in his wood shop doing many projects. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Worthington and served as a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his six children, Diane (Hardy) Boots, Worthington, Jim (Special Friend Renee Turbes) Thill, Worthington, Steve (Theresa) Thill, Worthington, Jean Duran, Cherokee, IA, Sheryl Meyeraan, North Port, FL, and David (Deb) Thill, Byron, MN; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Anna White, Worthington, Catherine Metz, Worthington, Betty Gieser, Mankato.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Callison and Agnes Hanrahan.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Worthington.
