Obituary: Marvena Erwin

Marvena Myrtle Erwin, 92, was born on November 16, 1919, in Oto, IA, the daughter of Irving and Margaret (Hamilton) Wise.

Marvena Myrtle Erwin, 92, was born on November 16, 1919, in Oto, IA, the daughter of Irving and Margaret (Hamilton) Wise. She was united in marriage to Ollie William Erwin on April 1, 1938, in Sioux Falls, SD. Marvena worked at Campbell Soup Company, Crippled Children’s School and sold Avon for 49 years (would have been 50 years this December). She was an avid gardener, enjoyed her house plants and collecting Avon, and most of all enjoyed her family and she made sure there were always cookies in the house for all the kids. Marvena died on Monday, October 29, 2012, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, MN.

Marvena is survived by one daughter, Carol (Ray) Tomford of Worthington; five sons, Gary (Jolene) Erwin of Worthington, Randall (Pamela) Erwin of Worthington, Douglas (Mary) Erwin of Rushmore, Steven Erwin of Worthington, and Richie Erwin of Worthington; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Letha (Mason) Ronfeldt of Sioux City, IA; three brothers, Loren “Pat” (Dorthy) Wise of Mapleton, IA, Irving Wise Jr. of Hot Springs, AR, and Dewaine (Ilene) Wise of Neosho, MO; brother-in-law, Norman Jensen of Sibley, IA, and sister-in-law, Ruth Wise of Pierce, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie; a grandson, Rancy Tomford; two sisters, Genevieve Ferguson and Bernice Jensen; three brothers, Floyd, Cecil, and Thomas Wise, and sister-in-law, Ellen Wise.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Worthington Christian Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Doug White officiating. Casket bearers will be Josh Erwin, Jason Erwin, Brian Erwin, Travis Soules, Nick Erwin and Logan Mountain. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Worthington Christian Church.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
