Obituary: Keith LarsonKeith Alan Larson passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013, in the Cayman Islands.
Keith Alan Larson was born March 26, 1957 to Roger and Marjorie Larson in Worthington, MN. He was raised on the farm, and graduated in 1976 from Worthington High School. Keith married Lori Busse on July 7, 1979. They had two children, Chad Alan and Nicole Dawn.
His first wife tragically passed away after Nicole’s birth on July 20, 1985. Keith with the help of his parents raised Chad and Nicole alone until he was united in marriage to Mary Hansen on May 25, 1996 in Redfield, SD. Two families that had experienced loss came together as Keith became a father to Josh, Jeff and Jill Hansen.
Keith was a kind and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends at his lake cabin and on his farm during the summer months. He loved to meet new people and see new places.
He was very active in First Evangelical Lutheran of Worthington, MN, the El Riad Shrine, and Bigelow Fire and Rescue Squad. In his church, Keith took pride in serving on church council, various committees and cooking at the annual lutefisk supper. He had served on the El Riad Divan, was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, enjoyed the OAZE cycle patrol, and Shrine Circus with the Worthington Shrine Club. Keith served as Chief for ten years of the Bigelow Fire and Rescue Squad and helped start the Bigelow Relief Association.
Keith passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013, in the Cayman Islands.
Keith is survived by his wife, Mary Larson, children, Chad Larson, Nicole Sehr (Ryan), Joshua Hansen (Karen), Jeff Hansen (Kelly) and Jill Hansen. He is also survived by his parents, Roger and Marjorie Larson, 4 siblings, and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lori Larson (Busse).
Friends and family are invited to process from the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 to the Worthington Cemetery for the burial. The celebration of Keith’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Ricker officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service to be held at 8 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church and El Riad Transportation Fund.
