Obituary: Leo Hess
Leo Vernon Hess, 90, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the age of 90 years, six months and 16 days.
Leo Vernon Hess born to Vernon and Josephine (Newell) Hess on August 18, 1922. After his high school graduation in 1940, he entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart with Clusters and the Presidential Citation. He farmed in Pipestone County until his retirement. On December 18, 2012, he was admitted to the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD and died there on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the age of 90 years, six months and 16 days.
Funeral service will be Sunday at 1:30 PM at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone. Burial at New Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Hartquist Funeral Chapel, Pipestone, MN.
