As others see it: Policy should not be set by edict
There are many questions raised by President Obama’s announcement on immigration policy. Obama announced an administrative order that will allow hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to stay in the country and work. Illegal immigrants will not be deported if they can prove they were brought to America before age 16 and are under age 30, if they have been in the country five continuous years, have no criminal history, have a high school diploma or GED, or have served in the military. Column: All hail Obama
WASHINGTON — “This notion I can somehow just change the laws unilaterally is just not true. And I think there’s been great disservice done to the cause of getting the DREAM Act passed and getting comprehensive immigration passed by perpetrating the notion that somehow, by myself, I can go and do these things. It’s just not true.” — Barack Obama, September 2011
