Gertrude Wassenaar
Gertrude Wassenaar, age 95, was born on December 10, 1917, in Ransom Township, Nobles County, MN. She was the daughter of Andrew and Alice (Idzenga) Steensma. Gertrude married Theodore Wassenaar on December 10, 1939, in Bigelow, MN. They farmed west of Worthington from 1941 – 1976 when they moved into Worthington. She was an active member of the Worthington Christian Reformed Church, playing organ for 45 years and a member of the Ladies Aide. Gertrude died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at her residence in Worthington, MN.
Gertrude is survived by two children, Arlene Fletcher of Charleston, SC and James (Pearl) Wassenaar of Worthington, MN; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, George Steensma of Luverne, MN, Ted (Bertha) Steensma of Denver, CO, and Fred (Rena) Steensma of Lynden, WA; sister, Ann Postma of Sibley, IA, and sisters-in-law, Grace Steensma and Beatrice Van Velzen. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; brothers, Pete, Harry, Ike, and Andrew; brother-in-law, Otto Postma, and sisters-in-law, Hattie, Marie, and Tena.

Lucile Marie Darling
Lucile Marie (Baxter) Darling, age 92, was born on January 5, 1921, in Sac County, IA. She married Charles Darling on June 10, 1942 and they lived in Iowa until 1955, then on various farms in Nobles County until 1986 when they moved into Worthington. She taught first grade in Brewster for many years, retiring in 1974. She then was an educational assistant at Central Elementary. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church. She volunteered with the Adult Literacy Program. She enjoyed time with her family, fishing, doing puzzles, and playing cards. Under hospice care, Lucile died on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN.
Lucile is survived by her children, Jerry (Edith) Darling of Marengo, IL, Sharon (Jim) Henderson of Worthington, MN, Marcia (Lynn) Reich of Red Wing, MN, and Lynn (Shelley) Darling of Rushmore, MN; ten grandchildren, Loren (Jen) Darling, Lori (Steve) Genkinger, Todd (Laura) Henderson, Chad (Sara) Henderson, Heidi (Tim) Bents, Krista (Shawn) Van Heuvelen, Jon (Hilary) Reich, Ben (Courtney) Reich, Seth (Kaia) Darling, and Brandy (Jason) Harberts, and 21 great grandchildren.

Arnold Herman Froderman, age 82, went home to Heaven on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN. He was born to August and Sena (Kluever) Froderman in Sioux Valley, MN on November 24, 1930. He attended school at Sioux Valley and Round Lake, MN.
Arnie was drafted into the Army on March 19, 1952. He was based at Ft. Eustis in Newport, VA. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged on December 9, 1953. Arnie married Evelyn Kuehl on April 30, 1954 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Round Lake, MN.

Marlin Terhark
Marlin Terhark was born on November 13, 1932 to Ralph & Kate (Torbeck) Terhark on a farm place outside of Little Rock, IA, after completing school in Little Rock, IA, he worked for Rohlin Construction out of Estherville, IA. Was united in marriage to Delores Petersen in Sioux Falls, SD, on January 2, 1954, and later divorced. After marriage he worked as a farm help for John Steen, and managed the Worthington Rendering Plant for over thirty years.
Marlin enjoyed hunting & fishing and spending quality time with his family, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. His precious and quality time was spent reading the Bible and walking beside the Lord.

Section 3AA Tournament: Trojan softball bows out
WORTHINGTON — One Worthington team exited gracefully in sectional tournament action Saturday. Another split a pair of decisions but remained in contention. In Marshall, the Trojans softball team defeated Montevideo 9-8 in the loser’s bracket of the Section 3AA tourney Saturday to set up a contest later in the day against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta. In that game, WHS wound up on the losing end of a 6-0 score.
