Arline Harberts
The funeral for Arline Dorothea (Ludtke) Harberts will be held 10:30am Wednesday, June 5, 2013, in the chapel at Samaritan Bethany, 24 8th St. NW, Rochester, MN with Pastor Jean Boese officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of the service. Burial will be at Oakwood East Cemetery, Rochester. Mrs. Harberts, 96, a resident of Samaritan Bethany, died Saturday, June 1, 2013.
She was born October 3, 1916, in Brewster, MN, to Emil and Laura Ludtke. After being advanced two grades, Arline graduated from High School, as valedictorian, at age 15. After graduation, she worked as Post Master in Brewster and then as a bookkeeper for a county oil company in Worthington, MN. She married FJ (Bud) Harberts, in 1943. She then worked as secretary/treasurer/bookkeeper of the family business for over 30 years. Arline will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls and crazy cake. Her home was always filled with food, family, friends and fun. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, fish and move; having designed plans for 5 of the 22 homes she lived in throughout her lifetime. In her later years, she became a master jigsaw puzzler, having completed hundreds of puzzles, many numerous times. Between work and raising 5 children, she also found time to pursue her passion of gardening; canning and freezing the results, tending to her many flowers and doing floral arrangements. She was a lifetime member of the American Lutheran Church, a member of the Legion and Hospital Auxiliaries and a Red Cross volunteer. Arline will be remembered most for her strong family values, unconditional love, her kind and gentle heart and her always present smile.
