Mildred Maxine Zuniga died May 30 in Garden of the Gods Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was born November 14, 1921 to Harry and Jennie Clarke of Reading, Minnesota. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1939. She married Henry Hilfers in February 1941.

Marlin Terhark
Marlin Terhark was born on November 13, 1932 to Ralph & Kate (Torbeck) Terhark on a farm place outside of Little Rock, IA, after completing school in Little Rock, IA, he worked for Rohlin Construction out of Estherville, IA. Was united in marriage to Delores Petersen in Sioux Falls, SD, on January 2, 1954, and later divorced. After marriage he worked as a farm help for John Steen, and managed the Worthington Rendering Plant for over thirty years.

Marlin enjoyed hunting & fishing and spending quality time with his family, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. His precious and quality time was spent reading the Bible and walking beside the Lord.

Dr. Gordon L. Moore, II
Dr. Gordon L. Moore, II, 77, Rochester, Minn., died May 21, 2013, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

Moore was born Oct. 12, 1935, in Vicksburg, Mich., to Gordon L. Moore and Geraldyne (Vermeulen) Moore. He graduated from Vicksburg Community High School and matriculated in 1953 at the University of Michigan. There, he became a member of the Alpha Delta Phi and Nu Sigma Nu fraternities. He earned an M.D. in 1960 from the University of Michigan Medical School.

Carolyn Elaine Zylstra, age 67, of North Mankato, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at her residence following a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church in Mankato, with Rev. Harold Tongen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Ransom Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. North Mankato Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Section tennis: Luverne, Worthington send doubles duos to state
For most of the 2013 spring boys tennis season, Luverne’s Joey and Jonny Vajgrt dominated their high school rivals in singles matches while Worthington’s Andrew Johnson and Carter Lindner also toiled as individuals. But in sectional play, two became one. And as a result of Tuesday’s performances in the Singles/Doubles Individual Tournament in Redwood Falls, all four will be going to state as part of a duo.

Iowa golf: Ty Hanna, Sibley-Ocheyedan rise to the top
Ty Hanna, a junior from Sibley-Ocheyedan High School, struggled with his golf game during much of the 2013 spring season. His short game was out of whack, and according to his coach, it didn’t begin to improve significantly until late. Then, as the sectional and district competitions were under way, Hanna’s game got better.
