SPRINGFIELD, Missouri — Former Worthington High School cross country star runner Mubarik Musa, now a freshman at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., ran a strong race Friday as the Coyotes’ third finisher in the 2012 NCAA Midwest Regional Cross Country Meet at Missouri State University.
NORTHFIELD — Luverne senior Josh Friedrichsen and Worthington freshman Amanuel Fissiha had the best individual finishes among area high school boys’ cross country runners Saturday at the 2012 state cross country meet at St. Olaf College.
NORTHFIELD — A trio of area girls cross country runners finished among the Top 25 Saturday, earning individual All-State honors at the state high school cross country meet at St. Olaf College. The Adrian Dragons placed eighth in the team standings, completing a remarkable string of eight consecutive upper-half team performances in the annual 16-team event, which featured 175 runners this year.
LUVERNE — A consistent season for the hard-working Luverne High School boys’ cross country team reaches its peak Saturday when the Cardinals will again be competing in the prestigious Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) sponsored Class A state meet, which begins at 10 a.m. on the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield.
ADRIAN — Qualifying, as a team, for the 2012 Minnesota State High School League’s (MSHSL) annual state cross country meet was the overwhelming goal of four veteran Adrian High School girls’ distance runners who have a combined total of 17 years of experience competing in the elite meet on the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield.
ADRIAN — As it has been since 2003, the Adrian Country Club will again be hosting the huge Section 3A high school cross country meet this afternoon.
A total of 21 girls’ teams and 19 boys’ squads — varsity races only — will compete in the state meet qualifying event, which begins with the boys’ 5,000-meter race at 4 p.m.
REDWOOD FALLS — Putting a trio of runners among the top seven Tuesday, the Worthington Trojans ran strong in the Southwest Conference high school boys’ cross country meet at the Redwood Falls Golf Course.
REDWOOD FALLS — Luverne eighth-grader Madison Schandelmeier literally ran away from the field of 71 finishing runners in the combined girls’ varsity and junior varsity 4,000-meter Southwest Conference high school cross country meet at the Redwood Falls Country Club Tuesday afternoon.
Slater, Sauer sisters give AHS four of top five
SLAYTON — With senior Jordin Kopplow breezing to an impressive individual title and teammates Nicole Slater, Megan Sauer and Morgan Sauer also racing to top-five finishes, the Adrian Dragons won their eighth consecutive Red Rock Conference varsity girls’ team championship Monday on a nice autumn afternoon at the Slayton Golf Course.

SLAYTON — Displaying exceptional team balance and getting a great lead run from Andy Garza Monday afternoon, the Murray County Rebels ran well on their home course and won the Red Rock Conference boys’ team cross country championship, claiming a six-point victory over Mountain Lake Area.
