WORTHINGTON — Baseball fans were treated to some warm thoughts and a few laughs as the 2013 Minnesota Twins Caravan made a stop Tuesday at the Worthington Area YMCA.
WORTHINGTON — Anyone who stepped in the front doors of Prairie Elementary School Wednesday morning could feel the excitement in the air, but if that wasn’t enough to tip them off that something unusual was happening, the clothing of students and staff members would have done the trick.
Any traveler thumbing through the February issue of Hemispheres, the inflight magazine on United and Continental airlines, will come across the smiling faces of two Worthington natives on Page 12. George Rayl and Tom Rayl — identical twin brothers — are both pilots, George for Continental and Tom for United. The two airlines are in the midst of a merger, and the two men were first featured in the airline’s employee publication before the story was also selected for inclusion in Hemispheres. Both articles bear the headline, “All in the (United) Family.”
Going into Major League Baseball action Monday, the Minnesota Twins — thanks to a 9-2 start to September — had a six-game lead in the AL Central and the second-best record in the league, just two games behind the New York Yankees.
