PREP FOOTBALL: Jackson County Central stops Luverne to claim Section 3AA championship
MARSHALL — There have been many great games in the recent rivalry between Luverne and Jackson County Central, but Friday night’s classic in the Section 3AA high school football championship game at Southwest Minnesota State University’s Mattke Field may have been the best yet.
JCC’s Darick Vancura rushed the ball 30 times for 263 yards and scored three touchdowns — including a go-ahead 59-yard scoring burst with 3:26 remaining in the fourth quarter — to lead the second-seeded Huskies to a thrilling 35-28 victory over the top-seeded Cardinals.

MARSHALL — One win away from returning to the state tournament and having the opportunity to defend its state championship, the Edgerton/Ellsworth Flying Dutchmen football team needed to get by the same team it faced a year ago in the Section 3 9-man title game.
Unfortunately for third-seeded E/E, it was the No. 1-seed Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines avenging last year’s loss with a 38-20 victory over the Flying Dutchmen at Southwest Minnesota State University’s Mattke Field in Marshall on Friday.

PREP FOOTBALL: Cyclones score late to defeat Dragons
MARSHALL — Displaying a strong rushing attack, St. Clair scored on its first offensive series of the game and — after being stymied by Adrian’s defense for most the contest — crossed the goal line again with just 1 minute, 4 seconds left.
It was enough for the Cyclones to defeat the Dragons 15-12 in the Section 3A football championship Friday at Mattke Field on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University.

ADRIAN — Jordan Dingmann rushed for 101 yards, while Jake Tiede gained 95 yards on the ground and scored a pair of second-half touchdowns as the No.1-seed Adrian Dragons overcame a 6-0 halftime deficit to defeat the fifth-seeded Murray County Central Rebels, 12-6, in a Section 3A semifinal football game Saturday.
