JACKSON — The Jackson Preservation Alliance intends to take legal action to halt the destruction of the 1938 portion of the Jackson County Resource Center, slated to be demolished so a new Jackson County Human Services building can be built in its place.
Pawlenty to lengthen sex offender penalties
ST. PAUL — Gov. Tim Pawlenty wants to double some sex offender sentences, the latest in a series of related moves over the years.
Under the plan the Republican governor announced Tuesday, a first-degree sex offender would receive a sentence of at least 25 years, compared to 12 years now.
ST. PAUL — The precinct caucus excitement from two years ago is not felt in 2010 by most Minnesotans, but a couple dozen governor candidates are working day and night to get their supporters to turn out Tuesday night.
WASHINGTON — If you live long enough in Washington you’ll learn there is literally nothing new under the sun. That’s why it is amusing to listen to the House “Progressive Caucus” and Moveon.org in a full-page newspaper ad attempt to explain the victory of senator-elect Scott Brown in the special Massachusetts election last week this way: Brown didn’t win because Democrats were too liberal; Brown won because Democrats weren’t liberal enough.
