Dianne Launa Zylstra
Dianne Launa Zylstra, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, artist, and lover of life passed away at the much too young age of 73 on Thursday, June 13, 2013. A celebration of Dianne’s life will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 18th, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Hamilton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dianne was born on October 21, 1939, in Sioux Valley, MN to Wallace and Leona Stofferahn. The oldest (and she would say best) of Wally and Leona’s seven children, Dianne took pride in taking care of her younger brothers and sisters, helping raise them while her dad and mom worked night and day shifts and making sure they knew of the necessity of green olives in tuna salad sandwiches.

Gertrude Wassenaar
Gertrude Wassenaar, age 95, was born on December 10, 1917, in Ransom Township, Nobles County, MN. She was the daughter of Andrew and Alice (Idzenga) Steensma. Gertrude married Theodore Wassenaar on December 10, 1939, in Bigelow, MN. They farmed west of Worthington from 1941 – 1976 when they moved into Worthington. She was an active member of the Worthington Christian Reformed Church, playing organ for 45 years and a member of the Ladies Aide. Gertrude died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at her residence in Worthington, MN. Gertrude is survived by two children, Arlene Fletcher of Charleston, SC and James (Pearl) Wassenaar of Worthington, MN; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, George Steensma of Luverne, MN, Ted (Bertha) Steensma of Denver, CO, and Fred (Rena) Steensma of Lynden, WA; sister, Ann Postma of Sibley, IA, and sisters-in-law, Grace Steensma and Beatrice Van Velzen. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; brothers, Pete, Harry, Ike, and Andrew; brother-in-law, Otto Postma, and sisters-in-law, Hattie, Marie, and Tena.

Sandi Fay Walker's journey ended on June 10, 2013 at Avera McKennan Hospital. She was born July 20, 1946. She is survived by her husband of 35 1/2 years, Stanley Martin Walker; her four daughters, Shelli (Jordan) Rosen, Tammi Kremin, Amy (Clayton) Huisman, and Melissa (Jason) Tuin; ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating.

CASSIDY C. VOSS, 23, of Lakefield passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 near Clear Lake in Jackson County. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Lakefield with Pastor Kathy Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the Lakefield City Cemetery – Lakefield. Visitation was on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Lakefield and will be on Wednesday – one hour prior to the service at the Church. CASSIDY COLLIN VOSS was born on March 15, 1990 in Lakefield, Minnesota, the son of Steven and Patricia Voss. He graduated from Jackson County Central in 2008. After high school, he worked as a carpenter and helped his dad build a house in Lakefield. He worked for Fortune Trucking as a diesel mechanic. He also enjoyed helping his dad on the family farm. Cassidy passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the age of 23 years, 2 months and 23 days. Cassidy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lakefield, where he had been baptized and confirmed. For many years, he loved playing goalie for the Windom Area Hockey team. He had an artistic side that was portrayed by doing a mosaic pattern of a pheasant in tile on the basement floor. He was a social butterfly and loved meeting new people and trying new adventures. He was always looking for a challenge. He had a great sense of humor and was especially known for his random silly thoughts. He was fun- loving and carefree. He loved being around kids, especially his niece and nephews. Cassidy is survived by his parents, Steven and Patricia Voss of Lakefield, his sister, Alyssa (Randy) Downey of Sioux Falls, SD, a brother, Jesse (Nicole) Voss of Rochester, his paternal grandparents, Leon and Violet Voss of Lakefield and maternal grandmother, Gladys Fricke of Round Lake, several aunts and uncles, Carol (Dale) Bayerkohler of New Richland, Allan (Delores) Fricke of Worthington, June (Randy) Howard of Ocheyedan, IA, Jane (Robert) Christ of Harris, IA, Diane Hall (Bill Kramme) of Lakefield, Norman (Clare) Fricke of Littleton, CO, Steven (Deborah) Fricke of Lakefield, Betty (Darvin) DeBerg of Heron Lake, Diane (Timothy) Torrel of Virginia, MN, Linda (Bradley) Mohns of Round Lake, Sherri (Peter) Hodnefield of Lakefield and Todd Voss of Garner, IA and many special cousins.
