1 p.m. Update
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The freezing drizzle and rain will mix with and eventually change to snow this afternoon as temperatures cool, and will turn into heavier snow late this afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service stated.
The little blue spring horse at Church Park has had a belly full of snow this year, and is up to his belly in it, also. He was probably hoping the groundhog would not see his shadow Tuesday, but, alas, it was not to be. After Monday’s snowfall, it was pretty safe to assume there would be at least six more weeks of winter.
WESTBROOK, Minn. (AP) — A strong winter storm whipped up whiteout conditions, causing state officials to close interstates — sending stranded motorists to National Guard armories and keeping about 200 students at their schools overnight.
MANKATO - The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol opened all of Interstate 90 in Minnesota and all previously closed state highways in south central and southwestern Minnesota this morning.
Snow and ice weigh heavy on Worthington WORTHINGTON — The accumulated weight of snow and ice caused problems in Worthington Friday when an awning collapsed downtown and, in a separate incident, a roof collapsed at the old Flower Lane greenhouse.
