WORTHINGTON — For more than 40 minutes Saturday morning, a steady stream of distance runners made a right turn off of Seventh Avenue on to Tenth Street and made the gradual uphill climb the final four blocks to the finish line on the corner of 10th and Third Avenue, completing Worthington’s 33rd annual Turkey Day 10K road race, in the 35-to-75 minute time range.
WORTHINGTON — Representing the Duma Runner’s Club out of Coon Rapids, a fleet-footed quartet of elite distance runners have registered for this year’s Turkey Day 10K road race, which starts along 10th Street at 10:30 a.m. today.
WORTHINGTON — Starting on 10th Street — near the corner of Sixth Avenue — and turning right on Second Avenue, then heading towards Lake Okabena, a total of 588 runners braved 39 degree temperature, a light drizzle and strong winds Saturday morning as they made the five-mile trek around the lake and made another right turn on Seventh Avenue before turning right — back onto 10th Street and finishing up a slight incline all the way to the corner by Third Avenue.
WORTHINGTON — Utilizing Saturday’s 31st annual King Turkey Day 10-K road race as a “warm up” event for Sunday’s Duluth Mile, the light-footed dual of Richard Kandie (Coon Rapids) and Moses Waweru (Sun Prairie, Wis.) pulled away quickly in the cool morning drizzle and ran together for the entire 6.2 mile distance.
