More than $14,000 raised during Deep Freeze Dip
WORTHINGTON — Fish were caught, a queen was crowned, hearts got healthier and more than $14,000 was raised for the Jami Cummings Learn To Swim program. All in all, Winterfest 2012 was a rousing success.
What is there to like about this whole Winterfest thing?

WORTHINGTON — Because of what might be the wackiest and warmest winter on record, there were a few questions about whether or not Lake Okabena would be able to handle a crowd for Winterfest, but according to Southwest Minnesota Fishing Club Treasurer Matt Lowe, there’s plenty of ice.

WORTHINGTON — Sonja Grant of Adrian has a new Hope for 2012 — literally. Her daughter, Hope Charity Rayne Grant was born at 11:43 a.m. Sunday, making little Hope the first baby of 2012 at Sanford Worthington.
Actually, Hope was the first and only baby born on New Year’s Day in Worthington.
Board approves 6.46 percent increase
WORTHINGTON — After failing to pass the 2012 property tax levy at $10,491,040 — a 6.96 percent increase over the 2011 levy — Nobles County Commissioners compromised on a 6.46 percent levy increase during Tuesday morning’s meeting.
