WORTHINGTON — In the last 10 years the city of Worthington has become quite familiar with the acronym “EL,” which means an English Learner. EL refers to a student of any age, who is purposefully learning English through the public school system, adult EL classes, or maybe has even hired a private tutor.
WORTHINGTON — One of the goals of the Independent School District 518 District Staff Development Committee is to provide effective staff development opportunities for all staff to increase student achievement. This has been addressed at numerous trainings throughout the 2012-2013 school year.
WORTHINGTON —District 518 officials distributed iPads Monday afternoon to staff and marked the launch of its initiative to give every student in most grades one-to-one access to iPads within two years.
Worthington Public Schools has the co-teaching models at all of its schools but not in every classroom. Co-teaching can be extremely beneficial for students; especially when there are students included in the mainstream classrooms who have learning needs that the regular education teacher may not know how to meet. What exactly is co-teaching and how does it work?

School board approves contract starting in fall WORTHINGTON —After much discussion among the board members at Tuesday’s board meeting, the District 518 School Board voted unanimously to accept Bud’s Bus Service as the transportation company, beginning in the fall.
