MARSHALL — In a roller coaster of a game, the Redwood Valley Cardinals fell behind early, rallied, fell behind and finally held on to an 11-9 victory over Luverne Saturday in a Section 3AA baseball playoff game.
Luverne ends its season, while RV advanced to face New Ulm, which it ended up losing 10-0, as both teams bowed out of the playoffs.
REDWOOD FALLS — Racking up 54 points in the three dashes, and tacking on 36.5 points elsewhere, Southwest Christians edged Montevideo, 90.5 to 88, to win the Section 3A boys’ track and field team championship Thursday.
Eagle sprinters Nicholas Pfeifle and Jordan Spronk will get to race against each again next week, as both qualified for the state meet, which will be run June 6-7 at Hamline University in St. Paul.

WORTHINGTON — The Trojans’ doubles teams ruled the court Thursday afternoon, and with a victory at No. 1 singles, Worthington defeated the visiting Redwood Valley Cardinals, 4-3, in a tight Southwest Conference boys’ tennis match.
MARSHALL — Worthington and Marshall played a pair of one-run games Thursday, as the Tigers rallied from a 9-0 deficit in the opener to earn a 10-9 victory before the Trojans captured a 2-1 victory in the nightcap in a Southwest Conference softball doubleheader.
