WESTBROOK — Carolyn Van Loh has never found mother-in-law jokes funny — she just doesn’t get the joke. She cherishes the close relationship she had with her mother-in-law, Betty Van Loh, who died in January 2009.
“She was a mother-in-love,” corrected Carolyn, who married Betty’s son, Dave, after meeting at Pillsbury Bible College in Owatonna, and later moved to his family farm near Westbrook.

Dedication to take place during Fun Days celebration this weekend

Students will explore careers in housing, real estate, banking and community development fields, learn about money management, and complete a service-learning project.

WESTBROOK — If Westbrook residents were shocked to learn a dead body had been put in a bonfire in October 2008 so alleged murderers could dispose of evidence, they were probably stunned to learn the medical examiner had informed the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office in November 2009 there were more bones than there should be.
WESTBROOK— An impromptu slumber party at Westbrook-Walnut Grove schools ended well, with all students being delivered home safely Tuesday morning, reported a slightly sleepy Bill Richards, principal at Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School.
