WORTHINGTON — At the end of World War I, a group of veterans established an organization and gave it a name, the American Legion. It was felt that those who had served in a war such as World War I needed to band together, if for nothing else than to remember their association in that great war.

WORTHINGTON — Tuesday’s vote finalized the decision. The Calvin Knuth Post 5 American Legion will lock its doors after close of business Saturday.
The first vote by attending members to close the doors took place during the December meeting, but financial officer Steve Ahlberg presented information and numbers Tuesday during an open meeting, followed by a closed meeting and a final vote.
Members encouraged to attend Jan. 26 meeting
WORTHINGTON — After struggling to keep their heads above water for several years, the members of Worthington’s Calvin Knuth Post 5 American Legion voted to close the post home and the lounge that operates there at the end of January.
