We think Jim Berard, a spokesman for U.S. Rep. James Oberstar, was trying to be kind in his assessment of the Obama administration’s economic stimulus funding package on transportation infrastructure.
“To some extent, I think the administration oversold the transportation aspect of this,” Berard said. “It was sold as the heart and soul of the package, and it really just isn’t.”
Obama facing challenge of defending science politics
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s commitment to take on climate change and put science over politics is about to be tested as his administration faces a politically sensitive question about the widespread use of ethanol: Does it help or hurt the fight against global warming?
While Worthington may not be the first place on Obama’s to-visit list — cities dealing with the effects of current immigration policies span the breadth of this nation, after all — the president would certainly be well-served by coming to this community.
President Barack Obama took a long step forward last week to fulfill a promise of greater transparency in government by mandating a 180-degree change in the handling of Freedom of Information requests.
President Barack Obama is right about one thing. There is a crisis. He has repeatedly said this nation is in a crisis. But Obama is wrong about what the real crisis is. Obama, like many so-called leaders, has ignored three big crises that threaten the sovereignty of the U.S. Specifically the three crisis situations are unconstitutional treaties, wasteful foreign aid and the socialization of America.
