WORTHINGTON — Even as it has become a Worthington treasure, referred to by some as a “gem on the prairie” and regularly featured in local promotional materials, the Historic Dayton House (HDH) remains a private non-profit organization benefiting from no formal public funding.
Early encouragement has developed her interest in art
WORTHINGTON — Some of the subjects in Carolyn Johnson’s paintings will be immediately recognizable to local folks: the Historic Dayton House, a scene from the Butterfield Threshing Bee, an old windmill flanked by the more modern version.
WORTHINGTON — A Rushmore teen organized a luncheon for more than 70 women, invited local businesses to promote their products and offered guests a chance to tour the historic Dayton House in downtown Worthington Saturday — all to earn the highest honor available to a Girl Scout, the Gold Award.
