WILMONT — Justin Saufley pitched seven strong innings Sunday afternoon, helping the Wilmont Cardinals claim a 7-2 victory over the Adrian A’s in a season-opening Gopher League amateur baseball game at Butts Probst Field.
JACKSON — Windom’s errors in the field proved costly in an amateur baseball playoff game against Fox Lake on Wednesday night.
The Pirates’ six errors paved the way for four unearned runs as the Foxes came out as the victors.
WILMONT — Wilmont’s amateur baseball team had a plethora of offensive opportunities Sunday but came away with nothing.
The Cardinals recorded eight hits but stranded 13 runners on base in a 2-0 loss to visiting Adrian in a Gopher League playoff game.
ADRIAN — After inducing 15 ground ball outs, Pipestone’s veteran pitching ace Kent Woelber loudly called “mine, mine, mine” as he tracked down a foul pop-up outside the first base line for the game’s final out — in the bottom of the ninth — Wednesday night, as Woelber and his teammates earned a key 3-1 Gopher League victory.
JACKSON — The Jackson Bulls scored two runs in the first inning and held on for a victory over Heron Lake Sunday in an amateur baseball tilt.
Ben Rops earned the victory for Jackson (11-5), allowing no runs on four hits while walking four and striking out four.
ADRIAN — Adrian’s Matt Gades did it on the mound and at the plate for the A’s Sunday.
Gades earned the victory in relief, allowing one hit in two innings, and had three hits and an RBI at the plate to lead Adrian past Tracy 5-1 in an amateur baseball tilt.
