WINDOM — Sarah Luhmann on Tuesday night became the first hockey player for Windom Area to score 200 career points, but Luverne’s girls’ hockey team became the first of the two rival teams to advance past the second round of the Section 3A playoffs.
WORTHINGTON — Worthington girls’ hockey coach Jill Cuperus is tired of waiting.
Not for her team to show improvement — it already has — but for her first child to finally arrive.
“I’m anxious to meet (the baby) and be un-pregnant,” she said, laughing.
Cuperus, who was due to give birth Jan. 25, coached her final game of the season Saturday in Worthington’s 6-0 loss to visiting Waseca.
REDWOOD FALLS — Redwood Valley’s boys’ hockey team scored on a penalty shot late in the third period to tie the score and eventually scored the winner with 41 seconds remaining in overtime Tuesday night to earn a 5-4 victory over Worthington.
REDWOOD FALLS — Sarah Luhmann scored four goals Thursday night, and three of her teammates each scored a pair of goals to lead the Windom Eagles to a 10-0 victory over Redwood Valley in a Southwest Conference girls’ hockey game.
WORTHINGTON — For the first two periods, the Luverne girls’ hockey team played nearly perfect.
However, it was the Trojans who outplayed the Cardinals in the final period.
Leading 4-0 after the first two periods, Luverne scored a pair of goals late in the game to seal a 6-2 victory.
