WORTHINGTON — In the last 18 months, the Southwest Minnesota Opportunity Council has assisted more than 140 individuals (49 households) who were either homeless or in danger of being evicted, all thanks to a grant provided by the Minnesota Housing and Finance Agency.
Local groups forming across Minnesota to talk about process
WORTHINGTON — The face of hunger is changing across Minnesota. No longer is it the jobless or the homeless who wonder where their next meal is coming from — it’s the single parent and the working poor who can’t seem to scrape together enough money to eat.
To recognize the need to protect those who risked their lives to protect us, I’m sponsoring legislation that would assist Minnesota veterans and their families who are homeless or are in danger of losing their home.

Bread of life feeding ministry begins serving homeless next month WORTHINGTON — Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington will be the host site for a new feeding ministry set to begin in mid-January in the community to assist the homeless.
Program that assists homeless gets positive reception It may not offer an immediate solution to the homeless issue in the Worthington area, but the concept of Love INC (In the Name of Christ) was favorably received by members of the Worthington Area Christian Ministerial Association and representatives of area service organizations Thursday morning.
Organizer is ‘extremely pleased’ with turnout About 90 people came together to raise awareness of the plight of homeless people in Minnesota, sleeping in cardboard boxes and tents in city parks in Adrian and Brewster Saturday night.
