OKABENA — The Southwestern United Wildcats put together a dominant 20-2 performance versus Red Rock Central in a five-inning pigtail game Friday to advance to the second round of the Section 3A Southern Division softball tournament.
REDWOOD FALLS —On an ideal day for high school track and field competition, Worthington’s Will Dudley outdueled Redwood Valley’s Randy Juell in the boys’ pole vault and set a new WHS school record in the process, soaring over the bar at 14 feet, one inch.
WINDOM — Winning three of the four relays and getting an individual first-place finish from Annika Lilleberg in the 800-meter run, Jackson County Central tallied 183 points Monday and claimed top honors in the girls’ division of the five-team Eagle Invitational high school track and field meet.
JACKSON — Zach Copley cracked a single to center field to drive in Taylor Christopher with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday afternoon, lifting the Jackson County Central Huskies to a 6-5 victory over the Southwestern United Wildcats in an exciting non-conference high school baseball game at Wacker Field.
LUVERNE — Ellen Dahl pitched two complete games and went 4-for-7 at the plate with six RBIs to lead the Luverne Cardinals to a two-game sweep of the Windom Eagles during a Southwest Conference doubleheader Saturday.
WINDOM — The host Windom Eagles lost a pair of tight baseball games Friday.
Southwest Conference rival Jackson County Central edged Windom 5-4 in one game, and in another Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial came away with an 8-6 victory.
JACKSON — Joe Brinkman and Kyle Christopher each carded 42s to lead the Jackson County Central boys golf team to a 172-203 victory over Pipestone Area Thursday, and Lexie Hoffman and Alison Benson each totaled 46 strokes to pace the JCC girls squad.
WORTHINGTON — Aaron Pavelko’s 7-for-8 effort in Tuesday’s Southwest Conference doubleheader sparked the Worthington Trojans to a sweep of the Jackson County Central Huskies at the Minnesota West baseball field.
JACKSON —Moira Carlson threw a no-hitter and Marita Rasche homered in the second game to help Jackson County Central complete a sweep of Luverne in a Southwest Conference softball doubleheader Tuesday. The Huskies won on scores of 7-2 and 11-0.
